Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi all, since moving to N15 a couple of months ago we haven't been able to watch any live TV through our Youview box provided by Talk Talk. The problem seems to be poor or lost signal. I was wondering if anybody has had the same issue? has anybody successfully resolved it and if yes, how? Maybe an indoor aerial?

Thanks a lot

@James - Totally agree, as I said we have already escalated the problem and the housing association will get a call from me today.

@John - that's really kind, thank you! I will see if we can solve the problem ourselves before incomodating you, but thanks for the offer! :)

Ok, that's pretty much the same as we got. The set top aerial didn't work for us but the log-periodic did.

When we went through this, I just googled log-periodic, found this site: http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/best_aerial.htm, then googled the model he recommended, found it recommended on a few forums as well, and figured for £16 or so it was worth a try.

What happens if you connect the TV directly to the aerial? Do you get a good signal then?

When I had a communal setup in a previous house, I had to add a booster to amplify the split signal. The booster was about £8 from Argos.

if you connect the TV directly to the aerial now that analogue transmissions have closed down you will only get a picture if the set is Freeview capable  But it's a good idea. Cecilia, if your set is not Freeview capable and you don't have a Freeview set top box perhaps you could borrow one just for the test ?

we did plug in the TV to the aerial socket when we first moved in and nothing came out, which we assumed was because our TV is an old cathode ray one and not Freeview capable. I don't know where I could borrow a Freeview capable TV but I will keep it in mind as an idea should everything else fail!

Are you using a 4G filter?

I have no idea what that is so I would say probably no!

Take a look here. I live in N8 and was sent a free filter for digital signals.

mmm interesting - but had 4G arrived in N15 we would have received it as well I guess? Mind you 3G is poor enough, I doubt we have 4G!
