Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

So last week I found 5 small to medium sized toads in a meter square patch of my flower bed, which at the time seemed quite a lot!

Today I have just found 16 tiny toads on the patio at the side of my house! I collected them up and moved them to safety as they were dangerously close to drains etc.

They are very cute :) Hope they all survive so that they can feast on my slug and snail population!

They are gorgeous!

And I see you collected them in a frying pan... Were you feeling a bit peckish at the time? ;)

Ha it was so they couldn't jump out before I could count them and take a photo! Lovely kitty picture BTW!

Thanks! She's mostly all grown up now and is at least 80% more evil than she was in that photo!

You could do a toad in the hole

I walked down Burgoyne Road today and found lots of little creatures leaping around on the pavement, though these looked liked frogs, I gathered them up and put them in the nearest garden. It seems quite late in the season to have them so small and they hadn't any road sense.

I'm on Burgoyne so maybe there has been a mass hatching of toads! Where abouts did you see them?

Baby toads  do leap but they also crawl/walk which means that they are definitely toads (frogs only hop!).

About a hundred or so yards down on the left, the front garden was well looked after with some nice plants so I hope they will have a good home and don't stray onto the road again.

Just had a look and collected up 11 in about 5 mins from the pavement and front yard. This is really wierd, I've never known Burgoyne to be taken over by tiny toads!

Our garden's been full of these for day. I think they arrived in the storm that followed the arrival of the royal sprog. A plague of frogs! It's some kind of portent.

"they arrived in the storm"  cool, like this? This happens. This is something that happens.

Humph, Wikipedea reverted my update adding the Burgoyne incident to the raining animals page saying HoL wasn't considered a reliable source with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy!

That's fair enough, given that HoL is a platform for people to express views. However, it wasn't "Wikipedia", it was a lone contributor called Pinethicket. Some Wikipedia contributors can be a real pain who seem more interested in policing for the sake of it, rather than to achieve a good end. I wouldn't disagree with PInethicket on this edit.
