Disappearing Parking Tickets
My partner and I recently parked in Stanhope Gardens. It was late at night and we inadvertently parked one bay in to the metered zone. We were tired and had just visited an aging relative who was very ill. Aged relative has now sadly passed away.
Flash forward to the penalty charge notices posted through our door.
THREE tickets had been issued. Two about four hours apart the day after we parked and one the following day.
Bang to rights? Well, we parked in the wrong place. Our fault. BUT...
There were NO tickets on the car. We looked at the pictures on line. There's the first ticket on the first photo. There's the second ticket in the second photo but NO first ticket. In the third photo, there's the third ticket but no second ticket. Would anyone really remove the tickets??? And if so why? What's the point. I passed the car on the day of the 1st and 2nd tickets being doled out and didn't see anything (and no, I still didn't notice we were parked in the wrong place. I'm a little dim). Had I seen the ticket, I would have moved the car... but they weren't there.
Anyway... when we queried the tickets on line, the second ticket was made void by the powers that be because it was 'a duplicate'. But it wasn't a duplicate as the ticket was written at a different time and by a different warden to the first one. The other two were to stand.
What's going on?
The powers that be have asked to see the death certificate of aged relative.
Unbe-freakin'-lievable!!!
We will pay the tickets of course. There is no way we are asking a 92 year old man for a copy of his wife's death certificate.
So what am I bluthering about?
1. Who and why would someone remove the tickets from our car? and
2. What kind of a system asks to see a death certificate as part of our mitigating circumstances?
Anyone else had disappearing tickets?

You cannot be issued with more than one parking ticket. Somone has misinformed you. Please challenge this decision.

Every case is different. I think you have reasonable grounds to appeal against paying more than once. Email the address on the back of the PCN (penalty charge notice) with a very brief explaination of your extenuating circumstances and mention that it would be crass and rude to ask a grieving relative for documents relating to their recent death. Offer to pay one PCN as a gesture of good will under the circumstances. Explain that you were/are still in shock after a traumatic day. Please keep your points simple and easy to read and as short as possible. Good luck.

I agree it is crass to expect someone to ask a grieving relative for a death certificate, but perhaps they want to guard against people who invent dead relatives as an excuse that they don't think will be checked (as my students quite often do when asking for unwarranted extensions for their assignments - the "dead grandmother" end of term is somewhat legendary, as are students who turn out to have more than three dead grandmothers by the end of their degrees. Always the grandmothers.)
Perhaps if there was a programme for the funeral or death notice in the paper or something else you could provide without needing to be intrusive to the widower, they'd accept that?

Sadly, it actually was my partner's 92 year old grandmother. But she's so furious (my partner, not Granny) about the implications, I don't think she wants to provide ANY such 'proof'. Her thinking is that why should it make a difference? Are the powers that be saying that if Granny died we'd be let off but had she pulled through the tickets would have stuck?
Wrong wrong wrong.

Take it to appeal, it is quite possible that Haringey Parking may not attend. Then you've won.

I have had a ticket removed from my car before. I think people do it for fun. The first I knew about it was the notification that the ticket had passed the discounted fine stage.
I'm pretty sure it was removed as I remember seeing a ticket on the ground and thinking "oo, some poor sod has a ticket". It was only when I got the notification I realised it was probably mine.
This was years ago so I don't remember the details (can't even be sure if it was London or Newcastle! Although I think it was Finsbury Park). But I do remember not knowing I'd had a ticket until the notification.

So what happened jimbo ? did you offer to pay for just the one PCN ? let us know what happens. It's just as helpful to find out the outcome of all the appeals to guage where things. Thanks.
