The thread about Obergine being sold and the speculation about what kind of shop it will become, made me think about what kind of shops or restaurants I'd like to have on Green Lanes. What if we could choose, what would it be?
Friends of mine would like a Waitrose, and I used to want Pizza Express or an M&S food. But maybe a deli that sells wine, cheese etc would be nice too.
I'm very interested in what others would like, so GO!

Ah right - dovetails with a rumour I heard about one of the existing restaurants opening up a second one.
Hear hear! Hear hear! I agree with all of the above. Let's NOT wish for more chains surely! One thing very conspicuous by its absence in your list Tris though is a good fishmongers, which for me is right at the top of the list (see my post on page 5!).
Why this obsession with food and drink ?
I want:
a camera shop where I can go and test before buying on line
but seriously -
A wallpaper shop, an artists' materials shop, a decent record shop, a travel agent that does more that Cyprus/Turkey, an antiques/junk shop, a men's outfitters, a shop where they you can buy broken biscuits out of a square, glass-topped tin, slices of ham cut on a Berkel slicing machine; where they weigh out bulk sugar into a stiff blue packet and shape blocks of butter between two wooden paddles ( I still have my ration card ). A garage where you can take your accumulators to be charged.
A time-machine shop would be handy
Come on, you've got to go to the Antepliler baklavaria surely! (next door to the restaurant of the same name) They bake all their baklava in the back and they supply lots of discerning places in the strip and beyond. You gotta give them a go...
Apologies Jessica, I didn't read your original post carefully enough. Glad you're a Bianca fan, I'm always mystified as to why it doesn't do better.
Hi Alison. No offence to Bianca, think they're OK, but having spent a fair bit of time in Naples, it's nothing like a traditional wood fired Neopolitan pizzeria, which is a truly fabulous culinary experience.
We've got loads of (I believe Southern) Italians living here these days - seeing one of them open a genuine Southern Italian wood fired pizzeria open would be fantastic!
Hugo, have you been to San Marco up at Bruce Grove? They make the best pizzas I've ever tasted in London, Neopolitan style - http://sanmarco.co.uk/ We only discovered this place earlier this year but have been back often as the pizzas are so delicious. It looks unpreposessing, but is well worth a visit
