Parking arrangements for the Stone Roses concert this weekend in Finsbury Park
To compliment Hugh's post about all the transport disruptions, including the underground arrangements I thought this would be useful for residents too.
This email is to inform you of temporary parking restrictions taking effect on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th June 2013 resulting from the holding of the Stone Roses concert event in Finsbury Park.
Between the hours of 6.30pm and 8.30pm on Friday 7th June and Saturday 8th June, parking in resident bays will only be permitted for vehicles displaying a valid Green Lanes CPZ permit or a correctly scratched and displayed Green Lanes visitor permit in the below roads:

[Note: Pay and display and shared residents/pay and display parking bays will operate at the usual times.]
Please contact our enforcement team on 0208 489 2102 on the event days should you have any problems with illegal or obstructive parking.
Between the hours of 6.30pm and 8.30pm on Friday 7th June and 8.30am and 8.30pm on Saturday 8th June, parking in marked bays will only be permitted for vehicles displaying a valid Green Lanes CPZ permit or a correctly scratched and displayed Green Lanes visitor permit in the below roads:
- ALROY ROAD
- CONINGSBY ROAD
- ENDYMION ROAD
- GREEN LANES, between the Hackney boundary and Endymion Road
- LOTHAIR ROAD NORTH
- LOTHAIR ROAD SOUTH
- TANCRED ROAD
No waiting cones will be set out on all single yellow lines to prohibit the waiting of all vehicles through the event days.
Additionally, Finsbury Park CPZ match day controls will be operational at the usual match/event day times.

I can't do that as I work full-time. I'm freelance so taking a few hours off costs me a lot of money. I normally buy my visitors permits online but for some reason you can buy all the others, just not weekend ones.
I will email them to find out.

Right. So people can see one of the the problems we local residents will face in mid and north-east Tottenham when Tottenham Hotspur has its new stadium and Northumberland Park becomes Spursville - a "premier location for leisure activities" and a "vibrant area 365 days a year"

What's their transport plan, or was that wiped off in the
desperation to retain the stadium, sounds like you need
parking time restrictions for half an hour during match time
to discourage fans parking locally. You'd have a better feel
for what's needed, but it was a thought I had, I love football
but there is no need for North London to come to a stand still.
I do love the carnival feel when the fans proceed on foot
towards the ground.

There is a plan for parking on match days, Matthew. However it's subject to consultation and agreement by local people and would involve an extension of CPZs. The cost may be a deterrent for many people.
Currently there's free match-day parking for residents in a large part of the affected area. But this can mean parking misery for people living just outside the zone. (It's quite astonishing to see how many blue badge holders can walk quite large distances when parking to watch a football match.)
A further issue is Spurs' ambition to have a 365 day a year "vibrant" venue. This makes commercial sense for the club, which will have a large new expensive building - presumably with a lot of debt to repay. So they will want to maximise their income and profitability.
However, if they succeed in this plan to turn the area into a "leisure destination for North London" there's a fair chance that there'll be little or no respite for residents.
