Change of use from steel yard (at the Railway Approach on Hampden Rd) to residential and construction of a new building to create 80 new private and affordable apartments and two commercial units.
More details here.
Comments accepted until June.
It will be a very busy part of Harringay what with the railway yard, the mosque and this proposed 80 apartment development.

Hugh, re Tuesday Ketchup. It wasn't missed; Karen Alexander posted about this a couple of weeks ago here.
Grief - then either I missed it twice - or forgot that I hadn't missed it! Doesn't look promising for me either way, does it!
Local residents have just received a notification on this (Malvern Road), the council are holding a 'Development Management Forum' meeting on it 7pm. Tuesday 23 April at the African Caribbean Leadership Company 9 Clarendon Road. My main concern is the height - 8 stories.
It's only a few(ish) years since they knocked down the tower block near this, at the junction of Wightman and Turnpike. Now that was high. This is probably less than half the height of that block.
I've already replied to the notification.
- 8 storey building is not in keeping at all with surrounding area
- Small flats mean high concentration of people, putting pressure on services. The ladder has already far too many houses converted in flats (some illegally), so plenty of 1/2-bedroom dwellings in the area
- Very few parking spaces and the new residents DENIED PARKING PERMITS in the CPZ. So what? when you buy a car you sell your flat?
Building a development will certainly be an improvement, but this is not the right thing.
I also feel the proposal is far too large. I have not yet looked closely at the proposals so I don't know where they propose to have the access to the site. The crossing at Wightman Road/Hampden Road is pretty scary as it is without additional traffic and this is a major pedestrian route for the schools and the station. With residents already having to live with people parking for 2 churches and 1 mosque it gets pretty hectic. If they make it more in keeping with the Denmark Road development that would make sense. I think Haringey Council's planning dept is making that area a complete free for all given that they have already allowed an awful looking building to go up between the Mansions building and the river. The poor residents will now look straight in to someone else's home less than 10 meters from their back windows.
There are no windows on the east side of the new building ( facing towards Station Mansions )
John D, was that small parcel of land owned by the Station Mansions and sold off or was it privately held? A few weeks ago I tried to find the planning application on the council website without luck. Were there strong objections to the development particularly by the Mansions' residents?
No it was and is privately owned and not by the Station Mansions freeholder but by the developer.
The planning application is HGY/2009/2021.
Some of the residents submitted objections on loss of amenity ( view of the New River ) I didn't as I couldn't see any valid reasons. I don't think one can object on loss of view. Any building has to be an improvement on the rusty shed that was there before.
If you look at the planning application above, you will see copies of the " consultation " and the report of the planning officer re the objections.
Someone told me that there had been a battle for 6 years but I was not aware of it and have not seen any notices.
