Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

On my way past this afternoon, I noticed that there was finally some activity in the long empty shop on the corner of Lothair Road and Green Lanes.

I poked my head in and had a short chat with the owner Haldun. He's in the middle of creating what sounds like a welcome new addition to Harringay.

The former "sauna" is to become a new cafe, Tramp. The interior looks like it's going to be a bit of treat. Haldun is using a range a genuine antique materials to create an interior with a mish-mash of historical styles. One of his sources is the King's Arms Hotel on Edgware Road which is just being demolished to make way for a new five star hotel.

It sounds like it won't just be the interior that's different. Haldun told me that as well as being a cafe Tramp it will be a classical music venue with music from Europe, Turkey and elsewhere.

Like the sound of that? You shouldn't have long o wait. Tramp is due to be open by 22nd April at the latest so that Haldun can host his own 50th birthday party!

And Manor House - it's very relaxing.

At first I thought, "Wow, Tramp is opening a branch in Harringay? cool!" http://www.tramp.co.uk/history

This is what passes for a cool/classical Turkish cafe in Shoreditch... we can hope.

Here's a sneak peek at what we might expect from Tramp's interior:

Looks promising. I am curious to see the end result! :-)
And with regards to the music from the loud speakers at Turnpike Lane... All I know is that if I had written the music and it brought a smile to people's faces to hear it - well, that would make my day.

As long as it's not wall-to wall Vivaldi :)

Yes, Thanks God for ClassicFM... Still, - it would be nice with a cozy, local corner venue with a bit of music and a glass of wine...

While I remain (as I must) neutral on any planning matters that may arise, I am certainly in favour of a classical music venue.

Because the photograph suggests an equine theme, I'm wondering whether this will be reflected in the choice of music on offer. Will we be treated to the William Tell Overture, Mozart's Posthorn, or his Musical Joke (thanks to the Horse of the Year Show)? Or will we instead be getting, from Wagner's Gotterdaemerung:

" Grane, mein Ross!
Sei mir gegrüsst!
Weisst du auch, mein Freund,
wohin ich dich führe?
Im Feuer leuchtend,
liegt dort dein Herr,
Siegfried, mein seliger Held."

I can't wait to find out.

Of course! Feuerwehr, after all, rhymes with "dein Herr".

Any idea what is happening with this cafe?
