For a few days now I've suspected something was afoot with Turnpike Lane's Banksy; it's been surrounded by scaffolding and tarpaulin since Wednesday - and there was a security van present for much of that time.
This morning I had a sneaky look under said tarpaulin to find it had been removed. I spoke to the guy rendering the wall and he said that after repeated attempts to gouge it out, the owner of the Poundland building had decided to take steps to 'preserve' it. He wasn't sure where it's gone...one can only wonder if it's been sold. Sad to see it go - it was nice to have a landmark of sorts...

Amazing Matt that we both took identical pictures today...
Love your image Eugene. Images are better than links ... was all :)
Have we not got the name and address of the owner yet?
If you mean the link:
http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk//wcframe?name=accessCompanyInfo
I cant access that - if you could cut and paste the name and address, that would be great.
But I understood, that address is for company's accountants and not the actual owner.
I think its a waste of time begging to Fine Art Auctions for its removal of sale. They wont care about local public outcry when they are on the other side of the world. And as they state, its all above board and legal to them.
I want to hear the reason/s for with the buildings owner, of why they decided to screw over local people and our areas futures history, by selling it.
We can moan about another attack on us or we can try and do something. Others will follow, if we dont act.
The info is all available in the public domain and I found his address and the other shareholder fairly easily through some company search tools.
I assume someone looked at the land registry to identify that that was the company who owned the building. Personally I haven't done that as I'm not interested enough to spend the few quid to get the report so I won't post up the other details.
The info is out there if you want it but I'd make sure that you verify everything yourself first, it's easy to make a mistake on these kind of things.
Yeah maybe Directorcheck have it wrong ... who knows. What the hell is HOLLYWOOD BABE LIMITED?
I'm not convinced that is his work, but if it is, I like to think its all because of the email I sent him
Someone I trust http://www.flickr.com/photos/thelonelyvillein/ is pretty sure it's not a Banksy rat.
