Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Does anyone else have resident drug dealers in their street? We usually some hanging out in a car doing their business there or  even dealing in my front garden or hanging around outside.

They don't bother me except for the noise and the idea that punters are hanging around my door at 2am.

Is this happening anywhere else in Harringay ?

If people are committing a crime on your property (or even near it) you should report it. The contact details for local policing are here

I've not noticed it, but you could try asking them to move on - usually people doing that sort of thing don't want to be causing a nuisance by drawing attention to themselves.

I assume that if they turned up, either very little would happen or some poor kid would end up with a criminal record that would result in them having to keep committing crime to get by.

I'll reiterate what I said - try speaking to them. A little "I know what you're doing and could you please not do it in front of my house" isn't threatening and might well work. Dealers are human beings too, after all!

I was trying to sidestep this debate, but to very briefly respond to your points: not all drug users are addicts, and addicts will source their drugs no matter what. Also not all drug users commit theft/burglary or other crimes, and dealers don't necessarily need to commit other crimes than dealing to fund their business. Dealers on the streets aren't going to be the 'king pins' who are making serious money - those people don't have to risk coming onto the street to do business.

The war on drugs is an expensive failure that damages lives and communities far more than the drugs themselves.

This perhaps sounds like a job for Ian Sygrave and the LCSP.

I cannot believe the naivity - " "I know what you're doing and could you please not do it in front of my house"

Just asking for a knife in the ribs or at the very least a brick through your window

I assume you would like poppies at your funeral ?

John D, I think here I would argue the case for Niave rather than Naive.

John D, finally! Someone with a little sense.
Call the police, give them as many details as you can, description, age, clothes, time, date, anything you can think of. They may be aware and are just looking for more information before the can take action. That was certainly the case when I reported frequent dealing by the passage on Seymour.

Do not approach for a friendly chat. And do not make the mistake of thinking dealers as lovely people. You've seen them, you're a potential threat. Can't believe that has to be spelled out.

Yes, avoid them at all costs, they can bite and turn you into a zombie.
Made sure you phone the armed police, as they need to be taken down.  These people are much more dangerous as suicide bombers.

Best to put some metal fittings over all outside windows and doors too.

I've been stabbed so many times by drug dealers :(

You f''wits go give them a hug then, but don't complain when your kids are being mugged or stabbed. It's clearly hug a dealer day in Harringay. Good luck, you'll need it.

Anette - I'm not sure why you're being so aggressive, nobody's been like that to you! It's okay for people to disagree, you don't have to resort to insults to get your point across.
