I have received this from the project engineer regarding enforcement of the 7.5 t weight restriction.
Do let me know if you think enforcement is not happening and I can chase it up.
“The zones signage has now been upgraded to ensure it complies with current regulations and with the correct signage in place, enforcement of the restriction will be carried out wherever possible. Please note that with the restrictions in place, an exemption provision applies to vehicles who wish to gain access and therefore our enforcement will not eliminate all overweight vehicles, furthermore we cannot enforce this location at all times.
We will use our mobile CCTV enforcement vehicles to capture footage of overweight vehicles entering the restricted zone on Wightman Road. This will then be reviewed and entered into our Penalty Notice processing system and a postal PCN will be issued to the Registered Keeper of non exempt vehicles that fail to comply with the prohibition.”

Thanks again for getting back to me, John. Here's a copy of the email I sent to Cllr Nilgun Canver this afternoon.
Hi Nilgun, Can I please draw your attention to a new discussion thread on Harringay Online about enforcement of the 20mph speed limit and other restrictions. (Link given.) I suggest it may be helpful if you posted a reply online as the "cabinet" councillor responsible.
Could I also mention my email to you on 6 December 2012 which linked to John D's posting on Harringay Online on the same day. I don't remember a reply from you and I wasn't expecting one. But I did hope you might reply online to John himself. After all, he took the trouble - in his own time and using his own equipment - to measure traffic speeds. Which is actually very helpful for his fellow residents; for the neighbourhood as a whole; and for the Council at a time of severe cuts.
Thanks.
CCTV has arrived. Just need to figure out how to get it to auto-record when something drives by now. Hope to have it up and running by the weekend.
In case a few people may not have seen this, there's a Campaign - with website - called 20's Plenty for Us
I get helpful monthly briefings from Anna Semlyen, the Campaign Manager: anna.s@20splentyforus.org.uk
Hi Karen,
I was woken up this morning by an enourmous vehicle travelling up Cavendish Road at high speed. As it passed, my whole house rattled. Something was dislodged in my attic, possibly some mortar, which I heard as it landed on the ceiling above my bed.
The vehicle passed my house at 5:33am
Mark.
We had the same thing on Burgoyne at a similar time. I think the culprits in this regard are Veolia - the council's rubbish contractors, as I've seen them in the act. They drive up and down ladder roads at all hours of the night at high speed. This is something that it is surely in the Council's gift to do something about, as I am fairly certain that they are obliged under their contract with the Council not to behave like this.
I heard it too! It was going over the humps at the top of Burgoyne at some speed at about 5.30am! I assumed it was veolia as it seems to happen at the same time on every refuse collection day. They are obsviously in a huge rush to get our bins emptied ;)
