Pop-up space to open on Green Lanes for December - Suggestions / requests welcome!
The KFH offices will be available for community use for the month of December.
Ideas currently on the table include a pop-up market for a few days and a pop-up cafe. I mentioned it to a local who might be interested in hosting a pop-up cinema.
It's a blank slate. We could make it something very special. So, any ideas / offers / Requests?

What are chances of getting Mary queen of high street shops involved? A lot of these great ideas could be incorporated into a mainstay use - cafe, inernet cafe/working/community group meeting space, gallery,spontaneous creche (that place on corner at newington green offers short term creche - 1-2 hrs at a go for getting to appts or emergency short term care).

KfH will be making a decision about the longer term future for the site by the end of January. They have indicated to Rob Tao that they will consider sub-letting the space rather than assigning it, as previously planned.
They are favourably disposed towards a community use. A longer term indoor market, for example has been mentioned to them. However, they would not want to be involved with the running of anything, so it has been suggested that a community coalition of some kind might perhaps lease and manage the site. Discussions have been around a three year period at existing rent levels, subject to approval by the landlord.

A friend of mine organises craft/independent design markets very successfully and they have a book out now

I would come along to a meeting about this - I have some experience with other empty space projects - happy to share my learnings. Also - can you someone tell me exactly where it is?!

I am a home bike mechanic/hobbyist and find myself out of regular work. I have a large number of recycled bikes for sale (adult and junior) and am pretty handy at fixing bikes. I could come and take a pitch. I am thinking about setting up a small scale bike business and this would be a good dry run for me.

I know you guys in Harringay have got plenty of tech support from great people like Marek and probably don't need anyone from distant Crouch End, but I support what you're doing and will help if I've got any skills you could use - I spent a good long while as a computer networking guy so I'm happy with routers, ethernet, wifi, broadband, security etc.
As you probably know, Google Hangouts is free and streams live to youtube, so that might be nice to add to the mix...

Living under one sun is actually in Northumberland Park :) Seriously, it's a marvellous community project and richly deserved last year's Community Group of the Year Award.
I hope Harringay becomes even more Harringay - I sort of think of you guys as developing a buried treasure (the ladder community) and hope you continue to become more of a jewel in our crown.
