I just wanted to let local residents know I found an animal trap on my lawn this morning. I dont know how it got there but assume it was dragged by possibly a fox, who could have been trapped in it, or was removing the contents of the trap ? It was quite a large trap which had been baited with food. Ive had a quick look on the net and it seems its illegal to set this type of trap where other domestic animals are nearby. This could easily kill a cat and im very concerned about this. Im going to see if I can find out more about this as am unsure of what to do? I have put the trap in a safe place, so it cant kill anything else.
Anyone know about trapping wildlife? Here is the picture of it...As you can see its not meant for a mouse! I am a resident of Lausanne road and my garden backs onto Frobisher Road.

OMG - horrendous. Please do speak to the police :(
Jesus! Police, now! I feel sick thinking of what would happen to an animal caught in this. Be careful not too touch too much, hopefully there are some fingerprints to be had from it.
This is horrific. I cant believe someone would do this! I dread to think what it could do to an animal - domestic or otherwise. Did you manage to speak to the police yet?
You could try contacting Council pest control or Environment Health.
FYI, there are 'collectors' out there (though this one is obviously in use). I once stumbled across one on e*ay - a savage rusty metal toothed trap - so I dropped them a note saying, isn't this illegal now? They replied yes, it's just for interest, we don't condone use . And then it sold for hundreds of ££.
That particular one sounds like a horrible 'gin' trap, which rightly has been illegal to use since 1958, but apparently is not illegal to possess. I hope that the person who bought it wasn't thinking of using it. I don't suppose many get sold at that sort of price, and there may be a police unit that monitors such buyers.
