As a councillor I'm getting queries about the waste collection arrangements. In case you haven't spotted it, there's a handy look-up page on Veolia's website. Type in your postcode and it gives details of the dates for different collections.
All councillors are getting regular briefings from staff on behalf of Cllr Nilgun Canver. For HoL members in Phase 3 (the Far East) below is yesterday's update which was emailed this afternoon. If the sun hasn't quite got-his-hat-on the news is of course relentlessly upbeat. Except for temporary delays due to a breakdown of one of the recycling trucks. Cllr Lynn Weber (independent, Crouch End) has sent in some questions about mechanical breakdowns. Anyone interested can contact Lynn and go on her email circulation list. (Lyn.Weber@haringey.gov.uk )
Thursday 25th October Refuse Collections completed as per the schedule.
Dry recycling and organic (food and garden) collections 257 roads were due to receive a collection for their dry recycling and organic waste. The crews were unable to complete the scheduled collections on the day/evening due to a vehicle breakdown and the crews adjusting to the new schedules. 71 roads were affected- totalling 27% of scheduled collections. Veolia deployed an extra crew this morning to collect from roads outstanding. This work will be completed by the end of today.
Please note that during this period of transition, it is our expectation that Veolia completes as far as possible all collections on the scheduled day. For this reason Veolia is providing additional resources and collections will continue to take place in the afternoon and into the evening. It is anticipated that this transitional phase will last in the region of 3 weeks as the new rounds settle down into a normal pattern of work.
Transition collections - With reference to yesterday’s scheduled collections, due to a vehicle breakdown the crews did not manage to complete all collections. 14 roads in the N8 area were affected. Veolia have confirmed that these collections were completed this morning.
Contact Centre - Calls to the contact centred totalled 492 of which 99% were answered. Average call waiting time- 18 seconds. 193 emails dealt with.

Thanks for the info, Alan. Now I know why my recycling wasn't collected on Thursday.
