A mother desperate to save her son’s life says she will never give up hope and will do anything to help him. Three months ago, Elaine Thompson, of Courtman Road, Tottenham, was given the news her nine-year-old son Keir had Duchene Muscular Dystrophy.
Since the diagnosis at St Ormond Street Hospital she has been organising events to raise £30,000 to take Keir to Canada for life saving stem cell treatment.

Members of HoL have shown they can be good at collecting money for local causes (map/cashmob) and I hope that we can do the same again.
You can pledge online: http://www.gofundme.com/1csdqo using paypal or credit/debit cards. Or you can contact the mother, Elaine direct via the funding site.
Heart breaking story... :'(

I think this cause is most worthy of a cash mob.
Yep. Strange this is getting so few donations from HoLers...so many gave so much for a map. It didn't make the Tuesday Ketchup either which would have helped.
I did think the final sum was a ridiculous amount to pay for a map and that the money could have been better used to support a charity, but I was in, and committed.
Maybe the ( any) profits from the sale of copies could be sent to this appeal ?
So HOLers waddya reckon? fancy cash mob to help this young lad? It'll do you you more good than eating posh cheese .
I'm in for a tenner lets see if we can raise grand .
OK I'm in - I meant to donate but forgot. You need to get Hugh on the case, though, otherwise this post will sink without trace!
On the case, how Maddy? Do please remember this ain't the day job, but I'd be delighted to support Ben and you and whoever. Let me know what you need.
Ben, are you asking people to donate on the gofundeme.com site, then make a declaration of their pledge here or something different?
Yeah I guess so Hugh.
A pledge page to donate would be good thing. I have donated tenner but will do so again. What's the feasibility of setting up a banner on the HOL site directing people to the donation page.
Would the Traders Association be able to help out too? Or Winkworth's etc who are all regular contributors to the site and have more opportunity to access the public and the means to have donation box on site?
A Stall at the market is also great idea by the way, if not just someone walking around with a collection box!
I too have a day job so cannot really spend lots of time on this other than asking people to access the link. Ultimately it to be as easy as possible for people to donate. A virtual cash mob if you will
I am thinking out loud at the moment so apologies for perhaps stating the obvious or the impossible.
I think a sum of £1000.00 is well within our reach if we all put our heads together.
Just donated £10.
Just need another 99 people to do the same
Hugh, I just meant that you seem to have a way of keeping posts on the front page when otherwise they would disappear. I think loads of people might want to donate to this - it takes no time to do - but if the posting has passed them by they won't even know about it.
