Hi,
I've got a new bike for our almost 5 year old (he hasn't seen it yet), & he's already very experienced on a balance bike, so shouldn't need stabilisers....
However, he thinks that he does need them, and I'd rather not scare him off, so I was wondering if anyone has any stabilisers we could borrow for a few weeks?
Thanks,
Michael

Hi, I'm afraid I don't have any stabilisers but you may be interested to read this past thread on the topic of stabilisers being a hindrance not a help. I let my first child have them but decided against it for the second one and he learned a lot quicker than the eldest as she became reliant on them too quickly. If your child already has mastered the balance bike, any chance of persuading him to forgo them in favour of some the methods described in the post I linked to?
My aim is for the stabilisers to be psychological, not physical - i.e.I'll position them above the level of the rear wheel.
He's just convinced he needs them, and the worry is that if the bike doesn't have them he'll refuse to go on it...
We've just removed the stabilisers off my 5 year old's bike, but I'm not sure where Daddy has "filed" them. If you send me a connection request I'll ask him when I get home.
