Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Just to let everyone know South Harringay Junior school is boycotting secondary school open days unless it's Park View or Greig City, not sure why.

Any leaflets which were handed to them regarding school open days were put straight in the recycling bin, everyone should have the right to look around any school they wish without being influenced

I notice you say 'not sure why'. Have you spoken to the head teacher about this 'policy'?

I do have a theory, but dont think i should put it down on here. My daughter goes South Haringay and is in year 6. Ifi was to approach the head I think I would get fobbed off

Nevertheless, you should raise this issue if you feel strongly enough and because the school should be alerted that this conversation is taking place. My children are both South Harringay students as well, one in the Junior school.

Don't forget you have parent governors who will also represent your interests to the governing body. If there are any 'unofficial policy' that may act against the interests of the parents, then it should be investigated. There should be clarity on this issue and not speculation.

As well as contacting the headteacher and/or parent governors, schools' Governing Bodies have a Chair of Governors.

One phonecall to a school should be sufficient to get the names and contact arrangements for every member of a school governing body - and without having to give a reason.

(Tottenham Hale ward councillor. Formerly a primary school chair of governors.)

Basically I work in a secondary school and I gave a member of staff some leaflets regarding open evening, they were then passed on to a year 6 teacher to hand out to the class, the class never got them and my daughter emptied the recycling bin today and they were in there with some others from another school. Due to the hours I work I neveer get to the school but will try and get a message to xanthe or shelly

That's not the same as boycotting though.

It really isn't.

Carla, if that's what you based your charge of 'school boycott' on, I think you owe South Harringay an apology.

Maybe I haven't used the right wording, but I still think they should give all information out.
I have nothing against the school and staff my whole family have gone through South Haringay and I do all I can to help the school fund raise etc but this has really made me mad.
