Hello HOLers,
I wonder if anyone can help. I'm looking to join a local cricket club within Harringey and have searched online but cannot find any clubs apart from Alexandra Park who have struggled to keep a ladies team together due to lack of interest. Does anyone know of any I can contact or are part of a club already and are looking for new players?
I used to play for Hampstead Ladies but since moving to Harringey, it's a bit of a trek to get home from their grounds after work so I'm now keen to join somewhere closer to home.
If anyone is thinking of introducing cricket to Lordship Rec or any other more local parks, then I'll definitely be interested as the ground is flat enough and is practically my backyard.
Otherwise I'll have to think about joining a gym....
Thanks Michael. I'll have a look. Hopefully I'll find somewhere.
Hi Taslima
I've only just seen this post of yours 6 months ago, but I wanted to reply in case you are still looking for a local club. Last we established a women's side at North London Cricket Club, off Park Road, N8. We already have a very strong girls' section and we have keen older girls who want to move into the adult game now. We are very keen to welcome moreadult members along and we have indoor training scheduled for March 9th and 16th at Alexandra Park School, N22 from 2.30-4pm if you fancied coming along!
I can provide you with more details if you like!
Hi Becky,
Thank you so much for getting in contact. Yes I'm still looking and quite keen to get back into it this year. Please send me more details about the indoor training. I may not be able to make 9th March but 16th should be okay. I'm 31 so hopefully won't be too old for the group.
Thanks
Taslima
How great to hear back from you Taslima and that you are still interested! No, 31 is not too old - we have a full range of ages. How can we start to communicate direct without revealing our email addresses to everyone in this forum, do you know?
Anyway, do come along on the 16th March to Alexandra Park School, off Rhodes Ave N22. Enter via the drive next to Rhodes Ave Primary School and follow it round until you get to a quad with trees and benches. Cross directly over it to a large brick building next to the courts and this is the entrance to the sports hall.
Wear any sports wear, no need for whites, and bring water of course. If it's fine we will use the outdoor net, so warm top too.
Can I ask you about your cricketing experience to date - you said you have played for Hampstead Ladies, and before that...?
Looking forward to meeting you next month!
Becky
