Recent research from Hitwise UK shows that 'facebook' has become the most searched-for term in the UK. Searches for 'facebook' have increased seven-fold over the last 12 months.

Facebook is boring (although quite good when old friends pop up put of cyberspace to swap news).

I think it gets artificial hits, it seems to have some kind of default programme about joining which pushes people to join or appear to be unfriendly to their contacts. If you took that away it may not be so popular.
