Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Langham Road, Turnpike Lane
I'm brand new to this forum, but was impressed at the community spirit so I thought I'd join the network and gain some insight into the area.
We are thinking about moving into 3 bed house on Graham Road or Langham Road N15, the two roads seem nice and quiet and are very close to the station, but also very close "The Ladder". Its our first family home and we don't want to pick the wrong street, as The Ladder is out of our price range for the same size house. So we kind of settled on the streets just a bit further down. We love the little Portuguese cafe on the corner and the lovely quaint beauty salon and shops on the corner of Graham / Langham Rd.
I guess I just need a bit of insight and reasurrance from locals and wondered if anyone had any positive or negative experience that's worth considering e.g safety,schools. Is the area up & coming? I noticed a massive improvement in the Green Lanes, The High Street and Ducketts Common and the parks around.

I used to live on Langham Road. It's quiet, great for Turnpike Lane tube/buses and the shop opposite the West Green end is brill and appears to be open 24/7/365. About a 10-15 min walk onto Green Lanes depending where you are on the road - it's quite long! Not a bad place to live. Eventually we had to move as our landlord wanted to take the house off the rental market, and we moved back to the ladder (where I had lived before) - and I have to say that due to the proximity to Green Lanes, the FCC railway and Finsbury park etc, I do prefer the ladder, plus it just has more character as Langham and West Green area isn't as vibrant IMO. So do keep an eye out for the occasional good deals on the Ladder or Wightman Rd while you continue with your house hunting! Good luck!

The Ladder is out of our price range for a freehold property or even a garden flat, looks like we missed the boat on catching a deal down there, hence the initial questions about Langham (turnpike station end) or Graham Rd. I've been impressed with the fact that Langham / Graham Rd residents take pride in their neighbour hood and I guess I just wanted to check I was making a wise investment into an area that was up and coming or near The Ladder that seems to getting very popular and expensive.
