Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Anthos Florist - blooming lovely in Harringay for nearly 50 years
Last weekend. I dropped into a shop I'd never paid much heed to before. Anthos Florist, on Green Lanes is just north of Beresford Road. The first thing that got me was the heavenly smell. Florists should smell nice, but they don't all seem to. Anthos has good proper powerful flowery smell.
I chatted with the team at Anthos for a while. It's a family business led by Fenoula (pictured). She and her husband have been in the same premises for almost 50 years. The busininess started as a second hand shop, run by Fenoula's husband. Then 25 years ago, Fenoula took over the reins and turned it into a thriving florist.
An undiscovered Harringay gem for me. You may well know it. If you haven't found it yet, just stick your nose in and breathe deeply or better still pop in and say hi to the friendly Fenoula and her family.

Does anyone know what has happened to Anthos? It certainly looks like it has closed down. Is it closed for refurbishment? Has it closed down? What happened?
