Wandering across Ducketts Common today, I noticed a couple of the street trees had started to blossom which reminded me of a little project that I started with Alan Stanton to ask local Flickr users to record the fleeting beauty of Haringey's trees in streets, parks and gardens and share them in a special group called, unsurprisingly, Haringey Blossom.
So get snapping and let's enjoy a bit of hanami...
This was one of my favourite snaps of last year in Wood Green
Thanks ant.
Of course, if people don't want to join Flickr, happy to see some photos posted here as well.
It was the sight of this very tree in Frobisher Road this morning that made me think about the Haringey Blossom project.
Not exactly blossom (what's the definition?) but the Camellias at Capel Manor are showing off.
Capel Manor is now open seven days weekly again till October.
This weekend (10+11 March) is a special opening for the National Gardening Scheme.
Online dictionaries suggest that blossom is the flower of a plant, especially of one producing an edible fruit.
I usually associate blossom with trees but strictly speaking it appears that any flower produced by a plant is blossom. The camellia in the Warham Street garden is blooming as are the wallflowers.
Lots more breathtaking beauty in the Haringey Blossom group. Enjoy the hanami
