Quick question: Why grit before the snow falls? It hides the grit, leaves it useless and invisible..

In Norway they grit AFTER the snowfall. Works much better, and they have had years of practice, so they'll know.

Baffles me every year, and today we are seeing the results. Or not, as it were.. It's a complete waste of grit.

I think its worth adding this link to the post that goes to a page with lists and maps of what 'priority roads' means and which one your road might be

Interesting. Seymour is a priority 1 road according to this, and should have had "pre treatment". We didn't. Oh well.

Thanks for adding the link Liz.  Doubly interesting that priority 1 roads weren't gritted!  I'd be really grateful for any more feedback on whether ladder roads Burgoyne to Beresford where gritted or not please.
