Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Not sure if this has been picked up, but the Haringey People and the recent Veolia flyer about Christmas waste collections mentioned that there are changes afoot.  I believe something like 40% of the borough (initially in the west) will start to see fortnightly waste collections, and continued weekly recycling.

I do remember a discussion on here a while back when these changes were first mentioned, but I thought there was a decision that flats/HMOs would continue to have weekly rubbish collections. This isn't covered at all in the HP article (it refers to the Council and Veola working together to find solutions in certain cases - but only with reference to people whose front garden isn't big enough to store all the bins).

For me, what's being suggested is great, though if I'm honest I'm not that keen on yet another bin (to take all dry recyclying).

I think the more general issue though the fact that lots of people don't do any recycling, and their bins are overflowing after a week - so what they'll look like if/when we move to fortnightly rubbish collections is anyone's guess ... (or not!).

to clarify the recycling and refuse service will remain weekly for those in flats above shops and estates.

Previous discussion here, Alison.

Thanks Hugh. I did look to see if there was a thread aleady, but failed to search for "Rubbish Collection"- as opposed to "Waste Collection"... Doh!

Personally,I am with Alison, and will be happy in fact if they gave me a smaller bin for household waste and a big one for recycling. As it is we can fill up to 4 recycling bins a week, so a big bin would help us loads.

Posting useful things twice is never a problem. You can bet your bottom dollar that people miss the first posting or forget about it.
