Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Loss of TV Channels
Very bizarre. I lost my digital signal for BBC1,2,3 but not for BBC 4 nor any other Freeview Channel. I tried retuning the digibox and those channels did not scan. Can't get them on my DVD recorder either which has Freeview in it. Can get analogue channels but the reception is terrible. What has happened and how do I rectify it. Virgin was fiddling around outside fixing cables etc to another flat in my house. Could it be that. I just don't know what to do - certainly NOT call VirginIndia!!

Hi Kamila, I started a discussion about this a while back, search on freeview and you will find it. Seems like Freeview can be unreliable. All my channels are back, for now.

I'll try all the other advice. I think the problem must be the aerial as my equipment has been working fine until now and it is the digital signal in both the Freeview box and the DVD recorder that is missing BBC channels (except for BBC4 which I can get - seems bizarre!). I bet the aerial was moved when virgin and another company fiddled about in my house. That's the problem with living in flats. I think I will ask both owners to check with their suppliers.

When the bottom flat next door to us got Virgin the engineer just removed it from the top flat and connected to the bottom. The guy in the top flat realised straight away and was hoping mad.

Oh typical!! Thanks John! I think something similar has happened with my flat! I've asked the neighbours to investigate and they were very apologetic and said they would get it sorted. I went out and investigated the cable and it appears that Virgin just attached all their cables to the communal one and maybe displaced it or something. Annoying that I am having to watch BBC channels on my computer - i only have a smallish laptop!

Really odd! It's never happened to me before and I have the digibox and digital DVD recorder since about 2005. But anyway it didn't appear to be Virgin. The channels mysteriously reappeared after 2 weeks and are as good as ever. So we could watch the wonderful Day in the Life last night. Thanks everyone for posting.
