Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Transport for London website

Just put in to the TfL journey planner that I want to go to Tate Modern - the suggested route involves train to Old Street, tube to Elephant and Castle, then a walk, then a bus, then another walk. Total time 1h07.
Whereas I will actually take the tube to Southwark and probably get there in 40 minutes. (I was checking to see if there was a bus from Moorgate that took you anywhere near the Tate.)

God help anyone using this site who doesn't actually live in or know London pretty well - it's completely bonkers.

After considerably more faffing around on TfL, I found out I could take the 76 bus from Moorgate to St Pauls and walk over Millenium Bridge - except that it's on diversion at the moment because of Crossrail. So I think it's back to the tube option.

Depending on where you're starting from - Picadilly to Holborn, change Central Line to St Paul's

I usually go Picadilly/Victoria to Green Park and then Bakerloo to Southwark. Very quick.

Oops, yes I meant Jubilee. Anyway, all these replies show how many ways there are to get to the Tate without going via Elephant and Castle, as TfL suggested.

I usually go Piccadilly line to King's Cross then the 63 or 45 bus to Blackfriars Bridge.

Lesley Ramm The TfL routeplanner is useless for any journey. It fails to recognise that my nearest bus is the 144 or nearest tube is Turnpike Lan so takes me all over the place. I assume a non public transport user designed it

Gerry Platt I use it a lot for my work; it's OK 9/10. & I live on the W4 route; I don't think it's even heard of that bus!

I usually get the 341 to the South Bank and then walk along the river.

For tate modern get teh number 4 bus from finsbury park Station it stps opposite St pauls Catherdral and you walk accross the milennium bridge. Its a lvely journey if you sit at the front on the upper deck.

 

But you are right the TFL site is crap
