Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

How the Boundary Commission's proposed changes to constituencies may affect Haringey voters

The full document can be read here [pdf] but the main changes to constituency boundaries that affect Haringey voting wards appear to be as follows:

  • Tottenham Constituency would add Stroud Green ward
  • Hornsey and Wood Green Constituency would add Bowes ward (Enfield)
  • Seven Sisters ward would be added to Hackney North

Consultation on the  initial proposals run for a 12-week period, from 13 September 2011 to 5 December 2011.

Details on public hearings which for North East London will be held in East Ham Town Hall on 27-28th October can be found on page 19 of the link above

Other ways to submit your views can be found on page 18 of the pdf linked to above.

Someone do a map?

The Guardian has done a good job of collating the data into a map which, by their own admission "crudely" identifies what the last election results would look like if undertaken in the proposed constituencies... "Not much change" seems to be the answer locally. However I can't help thinking that if Hornsey and Wood Green looses Stroud Green Ward, which elected three Lib Dem Councillors last time and gains Bowes Ward, which has consistently elected three Labour Councillors Hornsey and Wood Green would no longer be a safe seat for the current MP Ms Featherstone.

Apparently Osborne loses his seat up north

That's OK .. he can go back to being 'tea lady' to Cameron.. or we can make him 'Lord Ossy Borne again Thatcherite'

No need to worry Matt, he'll make sure he keeps his mits on the power.

Oh sure, the Tories will slaughter an underling to give him a seat. Ed Balls is another possibility for losing his seat ...
Not that Labour would do anything like that: they just promote their underlings to the House of Lords :-)

Exactly John D, that's why this ludicrous system of priviledge needs to scrapped ..

Does that mean 7Sisters ward switches boroughs?
Boroughs are not the same as constituencies.
From David (Lammy) to Diane (Abbott) Pam ... no change really. Still Labour, always Labour.
@ matt, you may not be able to tell them apart but I can.
I see no difference between them Pam ... or any party for that matter.
