"Tottenham has been villified, ignored and left to rot over the years."
I've just spotted your comment Tindara, and given the rapidly changing events, I wonder if you've since modified your view. Or do you still think that absolutely nothing at all has been done, tried, built, restored in the last few decades?

More snippets from the Lanes.
I learned that the Harringay Traders' Association is this morning meeting with the borough police, no doubt discussing what, if any, further arrangements might be required. I will update you if I hear more.
David Lammy was visibly upset and angry this morning on giving an interview to press on Tottenham High St. Claire Kober (leader of the council) also spoke and was clearly in a state of shock.
These are criminal elements that have 'ripped the heart of this (Tottenham) community', to quote Lammy. I take note of Pamish's comment here regarding people turning up in their cars to fill them up with looted goods from Tottenham Hale Retail Park shops; that is crazy.
I'm just so, so relieved that Anette was nowhere near londonDerry Bogside in 1968, my home town in 1969, Derry(again) in 1972, East Belfast many times since, Soweto or Sharpeville anytime from 1964 to 1990, Amritsar in 1919 or even Hama 2011.
No no (n)Anette, not talking just rebellious louts or freeloaders; cheated underclasses, maybe.
Call me naive - but doesn't everyone have a chance to be, to some extent at least "happy, contented, reasonably educated, employed people with a real stake in an industry-rich community"? Did the people out robbing TVs and trainers really never get any chances in life? Or did they have chances to be educated and to work hard and live honest lives which they rejected and continue to reject because they'd rather steal stuff than earn it?
Perhaps they are just lazy, selfish greedy people with no respect for our society?
