Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Some of you may remember me writing about some meetings I was involved in to create innovative bids for funds from the Mayors Outer London pool. This came in earlier today:

The result of the first round of the Outer London Fund has been announced.

Haringey have been successful in bids for Muswell Hill and Harringay. However our bids in Wood Green, Tottenham and Crouch End have been unsuccessful.

72 bids from London Boroughs were made in Round 1.30 of these bids were successful and a total of £9,989,568 has been awarded in funding

We have been awarded £90,233 for Muswell Hill. £20,000 of this will be used for Christmas Lights in the town centre, £10,400 for networking events across all five town centres and the remaining £59,833 used on marketing initiatives and community events in Muswell Hill including Christmas events, branded recyclable shopping bags a festive magazine and a town centre heritage trail.

We have been awarded £99,400 in Harringay.  £20,000 of this will be used for Christmas Lights in the town centre, £10,400 for networking events across all five town centres and the remaining £69,000 used on marketing initiatives and community events in Green Lanes including additional funds for the Food Festival, the launch of the loyalty card and a Christmas market.

Funding will be payable based on successful project delivery.

Fantastic !!!  Well done Hugh, traders, residents officers and councillors !!! :-)
Excellent indeed!
And little of me, it has to be said. I was just contributing ideas. Did none of the hard work!
Money for Harringay 'Food Festival' - excellent. Let's hope the restaurants & shops get the concept more clearly this September. Seeing rows & rows of 1 litre tetrapak juice last time was hardly inspiring! The music was great though.
If that stall with half-a-dozen Pot Noodles puts out a dozen this time - we can always blame Hugh & Boris ?
That's absolutely bleedin brilliant news! Well done all.
As far as I understand it, bids were judged on the quality of the submissions. If you look at the other successful bids, it seems that need was not a key criterion.

Although to be fair Tottenham High Road has managed to attract funding in the past and will probably do so again through its status as a conservation area.

Harringay's Green Lanes has often failed in bids in the past as it's not a conservation area and doesn't qualify for funding on heritage grounds.

This is very good news, without this support from Boris, it would be very hard to run the Festival this time.

Well done to everyone involved, I know this takes a lot of work to get right... (and let's hope that Tammy and others work in Wood Green brings in the funds next time).

Well done Hugh and every one that have been involved in this bid. Although you just gave the idea, it is that idea that are lacking in some community.

This is great and i believe that Harringay will have a face lift during the festivals and beyond.
