I'm finding this a little unbelievable, but - when my husband was coming in after work yesterday he was stopped by a man outside the house and asked if we would display some advertising for life insurance outside our house, for which they would have paid us. He then rang the doorbell, suggesting he was going door to door.
We're not at the end of a road, in a big block, next to a business or anything, just a typical mid terrace ladder house, on Cavendish. Apparently if we wanted to do this we would have to go into their office for measuring (??) It all seems very strange and sorry I don't have any more details. Wonder whether they are talking about estate agent type signs or boards actually on your house?!?
Has anyone else encountered this man? Is this for real? Surely can't be allowed?

Measure the size of your wallet I'd say. Selling you life insurance. Bizarre sales tactic.
We have had problems with a phantom board erector in our area - the board is attached to your property for KINGSLEY LETTINGS - Around here no one gave permission! One was attached to our fence - one on a disabled lady's fence one on the pub and one on Bruce Castle park railings! This sort of thing causes distress for vulnerable people that may think they are to be kicked out of home!!!
Pam, please report the board attached to Bruce Castle Park railings to the Parks Team. Alternatively take a photo and send it to me (alan.stanton@virgin.net) Or tell me where it is - I'll go and take a photo and report it for removal.
Boards attached to your property without your permission can be taken down. I'd suggest you write to the company explaining that you have removed the sign. And that you will keep the sign safely for a short period and return it to them on payment of a reasonable fee for looking after it, and for making good the damage caused to your property.
