Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Does anyone know if there are official operating hours that business bordering residential properties should be adhering to?

My garden backs onto rowleys yard where there are several business that operate at all hours of the day, Sundays included. The main concern is noise but also cars/motorbike revving & ideling for long periods, shouting, sometimes fighting and fumes from care being painted.

Does anyone know if there is legislation regulating work hours in such a situation? I have rung the council's planning dept who have said if there isn't specified planning control in place said business are not bound to any regulation at all. This seems very odd with little concern for residents or environment for all?

If you're not getting the info you need from the council officers, you have some good councillors in your ward. Can I suggest that you contact of of them. Perhaps try Zena Brabazon and/or David Browne. You'll find contact details for them both and, if you scroll down some pen pictures and video interviews, on our Local Democratic Representatives page.

For the self-help route, you'll find some useful organisations listed on our Planning page.

I would also contact the 'noise nuisance' department at the council, you can find information at the councils website (there is a link above in 'public services'). You can ask them to come and monitor the level of noise.
