Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I haven't had much to do with the police in my life and I'm largely grateful for it but on Thursday I was unfortunate enough to have been the victim of an attempted phone theft in finsbury park at 8.15am in the morning.

From the lovely lady who took my call when I initially reported the incident, to the two officers who were despatched to help me; they were all incredibly professional, helpful, understanding, personable and altogether very, very nice.

The entire unpleasant business was handled brilliantly and after the experience made the start to my day a very shaky and unpleasant one, I came out of it with a very positive feeling towards our wonderful police force.

Everyone I had dealings with was fantastic and doing, what I believe to be a very difficult job, brilliantly well.

Word of warning, however, there is a short dark haired chap lurking by the path down the hill from the park's garden centre near Manor House gate who might want your phone!! - he is about 5' 6", late 20s/early 30s, pointy features (very pointy large nose), facial hair trimmed into fine lines, very short black hair with a dark skin (albanian/turkish/afghanistan).

I have to go and look at photos soon and hope they catch him.

I will keep you posted.

That's awful Cheryl, but really glad that you were dealt with so well (and that he didn't get your phone, by the sounds of it).

I have been affected by two crimes in one week - house burgled and then my son's phone was pickpocketed on the bus. I am very impressed by the swift and thorough response by the police in both cases.

I can remember a time a few years back when I tried to report the theft of a car radio, during the course of which the car window was smashed, and was told something like "We don't take any details on this kind of case because we know we'll never solve the crime." They've obviously improved their procedures considerably.

Let's hope the LibCon cuts don't undermine this level of service.

First response is almost always good. It's the follow up that's poor, leaving crimes unsolved.
