I have been advised to watch out for a planning application for a development on the playing fields area attached to the cricket club / football club area in the lower field of Alexandra Park (the circle of the frying pan).
Various groups have been given site visits but NO residents of the Campsbourne estate who would overlook the development (i.e. residents of Newland Road / Northview Road / Nightingale Lane).
This sounds not dissimilar to the adizone that was roundly rejected at planning by Campsbourne and other local residents.
Although this will be further from homes it will be floodlit. It will be 60x40metres to the west of the cricket club building.
Also concerns over cutting down of rare Elm trees and other shrubbery that are used by birds/wildlife.
It is proposed that pupils of the new Heartlands school will use this MUGA along with members of the cricket and football clubs and other (presumably after dark).
If anyone notices the planning application (by the cricket/football clubs) please advice so that residents are able to express their opinions (for or against) once there is more detailed info.

Oh Gosh I'm sorry Lesley, you've completely got the wrong end of the stick. I don't object to your post at all. The adizone would have been pretty nasty and as a member of that cricket club I would have a closer view of it than you. Do you want me to ask "management" about it? I'm sure they don't want to do anything ugly given the joy they find with walking around the field with a beer in their hands of an evening.
A bit of an update/correction re: funding for the MUGA -
The report (from the site visits etc) shows that Phase 1, comprising drainage and clubhouse improvements has a total budget of £350,000. Phase 2, for the MUGA has a budget of £130,00 from LBH (presumably BSF) and £130,000 from the Football Foundation, with a total of £260,000.
Note: The original planning proposal for the school included two (or three?) MUGAs on the school site. The idea of using the Park for sports/ playing fields was mentioned, but there was no reference to the idea of a MUGA in the Park.
hope this is useful info. i will post any new info as i receive it.
