Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Man with dog in Fairland Park now
A few times I have seen a man with a white and beige-ish small dog in Fairland Park. He is usually carrying a can of drink as well. Dogs are not allowed in Fairland. Who am I meant to tell? Unfortuantely I don't feel confident confronting the man on my own. He is there now, or was 5 minutes ago.
I have seen him there before. He is obviously local.
Thanks for any advice about what to do next time.

I think the info board at the park has some phone numbers on it. Try one of them? Snap a surreptitious photo of him too so they can try to identify him.

Yeah. The Boards do have numbers. Forgot that. I sort of want a big van to come screeching (30mph max) around the corner and chuck him and his dog in the back of it... not possible.

I know it can be scary to approach other members of the public with concerns but do try. I'd say something along the lines of 'Excuse me, dogs aren't allowed in this park, it is for children'. Avoid straying into the whole area of the 'potential evils' of dogs - as it sounds confrontational and will put most dog owners backs up straight away. Just politely point out that his dog shouldn't be there.
FYI I used the same line on someone whose dog was in the play area in Finsbury Park once and they apologised and left the area.

If it's the man I think you mean, he does not sit within the railed section with the playground equipment but outside this area on a bench. He has spoken to my son and his friends and does not seem to me to be doing any harm to me.

People may like to view a 5 minute video made in 2003 in Vancouver. Especially the latter part which shows the city's Victoria Park and how residents and Park officials tackled some of the problems there. These include balancing the interests of different users; and what uses were not allowed.
