Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The following from Bernadette Riganti, Neighbourhood Manager, West Green and Bruce Grove Neighbourhood:

On Thursday 25 November a public vote will be launched to decide whether Harmony Gardens, a local community gardening project in Tottenham receives £50,000 or whether the money will go to a project in Kensington & Chelsea.

Harmony Gardens needs your help to spread the word to your network of family, friends and colleagues to encourage them to vote and help win the cash for the project.

Harmony Gardens is run by charity Back2Earth, working with the local community to provide flourishing, local food growing community gardens on the empty ground around the Broadwater Farm Community Centre.

The People's Millions is a partnership between the Big Lottery Fund and ITV offering you the opportunity to decide which projects receive £50,000. Votes are cast via the telephone and up to 10 votes can be made from one phone number*.

The phone number to vote won't be released until the day of voting. To find out more and register your support please visit www.haringey.gov.uk/harmonygardens.

Also look out for further details on the day published online, in the Daily Mirror and on London Tonight (6pm).

Notes

  • The Harmony Gardens Project also aims to provide
  • Green Gyms and community vegetable growing with raised beds for easy access
  • Beautiful scented leisure garden for relaxing and receptions
  • Cordoned fruit tree tunnel walkway
  • Productive, organic children’s nature garden
  • Butterfly tunnel for native species
  • Beekeeping with beehives
  • Poly-tunnel for propagation, a potting shed/eco building
* Calls cost 10p from a BT landline. Calls from other networks may be higher and from mobile phones considerably more.

I wonder who will take the profits from all those phone votes? "Spare a pound for the garden guv'?"
ITV will make a profit, but it's still a worthy cause. I'll call in, but just the once!
