Cllr Hymas did indeed take the post of councillor and is now Cabinet Member for Housing

Hi D Jones,
I've never met Cllr Hymas.

I do remember how hard it was (several times in my life) to join a complicated organisation. Especially a borough Council - if it is being asked  to go through large political and organisational changes - which I assume the Green Party is introducing.

A different example. I once found myself an (unpaid)  Local Authority Governor of a failing Haringey school.
By chance I came across an article by a former friend of mine. She made it sound a near impossible task - which would take many long years. My ex-friend was mistaken.
Vital factors why she was wrong included: the head and teachers; my governor colleagues; most parents and children welcomed and supported the turnaround.

None of them began by predicting failure. Nobody involved used words like far too busy
or not important.

Hi D.Jones,

My name is Alan which I use. When I work on my computer I'm in a room overlooking the street outside our house.
You may have seen that I posted at least three times that I've answered my phone to hear a female voice saying it's "Emma"; an "Ai assistant", to a voluntary agency that seeks my cash donation.
If you read these posts you're probably bored to irritation by this information.

Of course Emma doesn't get bored. Emma doesn't care.

I do get irritated with the agency that bought the fake "Emma". This is because I'm a human and want, need, and enjoy contact with other humans. I've been lucky all my life to work where I meet people. Even my early job serving ina green grocers.

Is "Emma" anything more than an advanced  and very sophisticated Auto-reply machine?

I will make you a confession. In the many years I was an elected  as a Haringey local councillor I had email and got letters. But had no auto reply on my home landline.  I've never had my own or a Council mobile.
We councillors had a system of speaking in person with residents who came to  what were called "advice surgeries".
Mine were in a room at Marcus Garvey Library in Tottenham. I often shared these with another councillor; most often with former Cllr Bernice Vanier. Who was a very experienced councillor as well as being a nice person. We covered each other's absences. I enjoyed chatting with her as well as meeting residents.

I hope the Green Party will operate some face to face; person to person system like this. Sometimes residents joined the library when they came to see us. Some came with their kids. and I gave them some kid's books from the used/withdrawn/ for sale pile, While we spoke to their parent. They cou;d take them home if they wanted.

But it's still early days, isn't it? I wish the Greens well.

The address that does work (for me) is Tammy.Hymas@haringey.gov.uk .

There is a rogue figure '1' in Haringey's listed email address, it stands out against all the other councillors' address formatting.....

Probably some legacy confusion when it changed from Tommy?

I have just emailed her about it, now I've worked out the correct address. Job done, Alan!

Thanks Gordon T for emailing Cllr Hymas.

I have an old fashioned approach to telephone casework. Shaped by my dislike of and decision not to use the original brick-like mobile phones. I was once accused of failing to act on a message left by a client on my mobile. I explained that was very curious since I didn't have one.

D.Jones

Your post refers to emails (plural)
How many new emails have you sent Cllr Hymas at the incorrect address?

What action or actions are you asking Cllr Hymas to take?
Is it a matter of urgency?

Why are you choosing to raise the matter on this website?

Thanks, D. Jones

Yes indeed, the Council's website says:"To email Haringey councillors, you can contact your specific ward representatives directly using the format firstname.lastname@haringey.gov.uk

This would entirely explain why - not using this format  - would result in Cllr Hymas being unable to read and respond to your email.

It's neither accurate nor fair to say: "She doesn't reply"  if she has not received to your email.
Nor is it accurate or fair to criticise her on a public website for not replying.

D.Jones

No, I do not think you are stupid.
I am simply trying to ask what Gordon T (and you)  can choose to ask: What has gone wrong in the communication between you and Cllr Hymas?.

I accept what you say that Cllr Hymas sent an email... from a different [Haringey Council] address on. 31/5/26.

As we all know, Cllr Hymas had previously been a Labour councillor but resigned from that Party.
As we all also know we then had a borough election.

This may possibly explain why Cllr Hymas's email address was at some point altered to the format:
Tammy1.Hymas. And then replaced by the standard format.

Line 5 in your post does not work for me.

*************************************

It still appears to me that it is at least a possibility that Councillor Hymas did not receive your email when you first sent it, due to the official changes at the end of the last Council.
