Time for our new Green councillors to step up and figure out a plan. Anna's plan seemed like a good start.
My advice to them would be to meet with the Harringay Traders and explain public concern, and come up with a plan that recognises restaurants that commit to invest in the latest emissions cleaning technology.
Agreed! I look forward to hearing the action taken in the last 2 months since meeting 1
Do the new cllrs have to wait until they are sworn in to do council stuff ?
Who did the study, how was it measured and which roads please? I'm building up a record but need hard facts.
DM me and I'll be happy to include you in the campaign up and running. We've got a large group so more contributions to ensuring the council act is always positive
COMPLIANCE
IMO, general public health is more important than Peray Ahmet's year of culture.
Council employees would—and will—claim that emissions from Green Lanes Restaurants are "compliant".
Either, GL restaurant emissions are "compliant" or they are not.
If at any time or day of the week, emissions are non-compliant, then how much non-compliance is needed before meaningful action by council employees is taken in form?
There seem to be a want of information.

THE inability to "deliver change" is not confined to those elected to govern.
Is not the (continuing) risk, that new Councillors will be guided by council employees, AKA "officers" ?
It seems a pity that the only time that such public health issues can be raised with a chance of gaining attention (never mind action), is in the run-up to an election.
That's not fair Clive.
I first asked about the emissions from restaurants in 2019. But as you know, sometimes it is very difficult to get things moving, and that has been the case in this issue.
Not an excuse - just a factual observation. It wasn't that Anna and I didn't work hard, try or challenge.
But now there are new councillors who can take this up.
Zena
Zena Brabazon
Zena I have no doubt that you and Anna have raised this issue with council employees over a long period. And have tried hard and challenged.
Is it not also true, that the toxic emissions issue has had more attention and exposure from residents in the last few weeks than ever before?
Where is the council's Director of Public Health on all this?
Rather than needing challenge and overcoming the evident resistance by employees of the council, ought not staff be eager to help improve the health of residents' or reducing hazard?
Although I wouldn't favour Wes Streeting as PM, at least when first put in charge of the NHS, he said he favoured a greater focus on prevention rather than cure.
IMO, curbing Green Lanes' toxic restaurant emissions falls into the ounce of prevention category.

Hi Alice...looks like you can't provide the data for this...why not? isn't it public information? Look at the bottom of the graph survey..it will or rather should give you information and title as to who conducted it and when. If it is a serious paper or report then it should be somewhere published. Where and by whom? Or is it an estimate? We can't run a campaign if the evidence isn't verifiable.
