That's not what this Haringey Manifesto says, Martin. It's not what Zack Polanski says either.
And in any case he's not standing in Haringey.Why not argue on the basis of actual facts rather than exaggeration?
How about telling us about you? Are you hoping to stand? Which party are you supporting? Surely you are proud ro mention them?

Companies don't always expand to be a global monopolist by playing nice.
There is no visible evidence of bribery in the local leadership's gigantic favour to the giant corporation. At the same time, the unseemly and extraordinary pre-election haste exhibited, is not inconsistent with corruption.
Under what must have been high pressure to lock-in before the election, Haringey Council disregard their own rules. Their "Stakeholder" consultation was seriously flawed; they've claimed it was a "non-key" decision—which is a gross distortion in their effort to avoid Scrutiny—and they have acted in less than good faith throughout.
Far from delivering change, the Party of the majority Group offers more of the same …

ALAN, I agree that the attempt to avoid Call-In by labelling it a non-key decision made no sense.
The council is trying to rely on what IMO is a flawed view expressed in a nearly 10 year old High Court Decision, relating to the applicability of the council's Key Decision criteria, to the facts of the commercial exploitation of a public park.
There are two elements of the council's definition: (a) accounting/economic and (b) community impact.
Those two elements are separated by OR and not by AND.
If one understands that a dollar save is a dollar earned, then the judge's view on the money transaction makes little sense.
However, the judge appeared to take no notice at all about the council's own, alternative definition (on community impact), apparently on the grounds that the barrister made no submissions about the second part. Despite the fact that the second part was and remains a council rule.

Perhaps you've been watching too much of Laura Kuennsberg, Alan. It's entirely disingenuous to lay blame at opposition parties' doors, without pressing governing party members in the same way.
What did the local councillors and cabinet members do to stop this? A simple question, and one you could have asked at any point across the dining table in the past week.

I have no idea what local councillors and cabinet members say in their private meetings. I don't watch meetings online.
When I was a councillor I had a collaborative / co-operative approach to co-working (which I learned and studied, decades before). It was a pleasure to work with decent and honest Labour and LibDem councillors. They included Harringay ward councillors such as Karen Alexander and David Schmidz; Plus many others.especially on Scrutiny. Where as I recall the aim was to work together to improve services.
This tended to contrast with Meetings of the full Council which I remember as often Party point scoring. I liked sitting near the door so I could slip out for a coffee when the most boring people were speaking; usually with nothing to say.
I regarded the most useful work done by Councillors as out seeing and taking up residents issues.
Which is also why elections are important. Also important are the rules which set democratic time limits on power and when decisions can legally be made. They are not a clever game of finding ways around the rules to show someone's power. Or to please some corporation.

And if a global monopolist faces a sizeable criminal fine in another country, then that multi-national is likely to be pleased with a feeble UK Local Authority which goes to some lengths to help it to extract big profits.
For years to come. Pleased, and possibly grateful too.
Antitrust rules in the USA came about in early 20th century in response to the Robber Barons.
No surprise that senior employees of Live Nation were reported as "robbing" fans.
A Haringey Deputy Mayor once told me the council will do business with anyone who has money (context: trying to sell Alexandra Palace to a former slum landlord).
Which underscores municipal amorality.
Will the New Labour Government take action against local tentacles, as even Trump's Administration is doing in the USA?

I’ve pulled out this bit of the Manifesto ‘We will deliver the Haringey Walking and
Cycling Action Plan in full, re-allocating
road space to make streets safer, reduce
pollution and enable healthier living. Build
a safe, joined-up cycle network, including
a north-south route through the borough.’
Does anyone who has been more involved in the active travel programme know what this means - is it a commitment to sort Green Lanes or is that my wishful thinking?

Hi Anita,
The Haringey Walking and Cycling Action Plan is a 10-year plan - running from 2022-2032 - that the Haringey Labour administration adopted in 2022 to enable more walking and cycling in the Borough.
We have already implemented many of its measures in the first four years of the plan (notably 37 new School Streets, two of which are in Harringay, and 300 new bike hangars) - but there are still six more years of implementation left. We have made a commitment in our 2026 Haringey Labour manifesto to prioritise investing in new segregated cycle lanes on main roads in the next four years.
Cllr Brabazon and I have also been working with council officers on a Green Lanes Safety Improvement Plan, which is currently undergoing feasibility testing before the designs are published for consultation.
