Hi Michael,

Many thanks for posting those links. I'd like to talk with you about them.  I am shocked that nobody has yet replied.

I've sent you a message with my landline number. (I loathe mobiles but probably need a basic
schmuck phone with big enough keyboard characters that I can read it.)

I asked my Zena about it when I first saw it  on the TV news. I had several ideas.

One OBVIOUS IDEA only occurred to me this morning which proves what a real schmuck I am now. Which I think you may laugh about when I tell you.

Inspired by Michael Anderson's post this morning about the Measles outbreak in our area.

ANTI-MEASLES - Idea #1

Hugh & Liz  please  consider inviting Haringey Public Health to contribute a page on HoL for Advice, information, and further contacts.
With a strong recommendation  for HoL members to pass this on to family, friends and wider contacts.

Idea #2

There are right now, and will be until May, groups of Political Party members walking up and down our streets ringing doorbells and pushing leaflets in our letter boxes.

Can all the parties be asked to agree that they all take and deliver an additional single page explicitly
non-political leaflet with the basic facts about measles.

Hi Michael

Thanks for posting this information about the measles outbreak. Just to reassure everyone, Haringey's public health team have been very proactive in their response to the outbreak.

They have run on line sessions for council staff and people working in community organisations- the sessions were for staff who work with parents and carers and the wider communities, especially in areas with lower vaccination take up This has led to further action in communities, including information for families living in lodges as temporary accommodation, and also holiday clubs and projects.

There has been a focused meeting with primary Head Teachers of Haringey Schools where vaccination take up is lower, so they can use their influence and direct contacts with families to encourage immunisation.  There have been additional vaccination sessions in the community and Public Health is also working to provide support for a specialist session with leaders from our many diverse communities.

Regarding wider communications, Haringey is working with the NHS  to arrange a large distribution of leaflets in many languages across the key postcodes in Enfield and Haringey most affected, and a full page ad has been placed in the housing information magazine distributed to council tenants.

I will provide further updates when I receive them.

Thanks again,

Zena
