With a canny eye on timing Haringey Council have just launched their Football Development Plan for the borough.
The three-year plan aims to:
- develop a mini soccer league and set up more male and female teams at youth and adult levels as well as two teams of disabled people
- promote the FA skills programme
- develop coaching and refereeing
- provide multi-use games areas across the borough
- set up a player development centre with the Tottenham Hotspur Academy
The plan ensures that key partners within the borough help to deliver the plan including working alongside Tottenham Hotspur Football Club and using existing facilities like White Hart Lane Community Sports Centre has a hub for borough-wide football development programmes to ensure that the most talented young players in the borough are given the opportunity to play at the highest levels.
The footie scheme comes just weeks after a similar
plan launched for tennis.
