Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

All foreigners need deporting

… is alleged to have been posted by Haringey Councillor Sheila Peacock in a WhatsApp Group.

Today, the Haringey Community Press reported that Cllr Peacock has been suspended by Labour after deport foreigners message.

Sheila Peacock is no stranger to ill-considered statements.

As the Mayor of Haringey several times, would Cllr Peacock not have officiated at UK naturalisation ceremonies at the Civic Centre?

Sheila Peacock is a Labour candidate for South Tottenham in the May 2026 local elections, but one has to wonder if she would not feel more at home in the Party of Nigel Farage.

OLI, you tried to reassure me that Sheila would let me stay. But as I have more than once drawn attention to Cllr Peacock's repeated gaffes, the former Mayor may have reason to want me deported.

I don't know what proportion of NHS patients are "foreigners" (which you asked) but I have some questions you may like to consider: I have a close relation who is a surgeon who has worked in the NHS. He was born in a city behind the former Iron Curtain to parents of West European nationality.

  1. In your view, would he count as a foreigner?
  2. Should he have been employed by the NHS?
  3. Which foreigners or nationalities should he be able to operate on?
  4. And which foreigners should he not have operated on, in your view?
  5. Would someone who is half English and say, half Sudanese, count as a foreigner?

.

I don't know why you're asking that particular set of questions Clive but as you are my answers are as follows:

1. Obviously yes. If he was born elsewhere to foreign parents then he is a foreigner.

2. I can't see why not. If his qualifications are up to scratch and have been validated and if he is competent.

3. I can imagine he's allowed to operate on anyone in an official capacity who he is qualified to operate on. If he's an orthopaedic surgeon he wouldn't be able to conduct brain surgery for instance.

4. I have no idea. But presumably if he operated on someone he shouldn't have then it's a matter of professional misconduct. Operating on someone unnecessarily or on the wrong person is very serious and would result in him losing his license/registration.

5. I dont know. It probably depends on place of birth and upbringing etc. For example, if they were born in Sudan and grew up there emersed in Sudanese culture and not speaking English etc it would be hard to argue that they are not a foreigner.
