As the title of this thread suggests, I know this is a long shot but.....
Im trying to identify the location of these photographs which are from the late 1960s or the early 1970s
The fire appliance is from Hornsey fire station but for the life of me I cannot fathom where the location is.
It may well have been nowhere hear here, but I thought that I would ask anyway.

My first thought was Shepherd's Hill, but that block of flats looks to be about 10 floors high. So, I'm not so sure. Hornsey Lane way?
Thanks for posting these Paul.
I wonder if the incident was on the eastern end of Hornsey High Street?
Both the images are looking east and there is a lot of foreshortening effect. There are trees on both sides of the road - the ones on the right, surrounding St Mary's Church Tower, are still there and, before the redevelopemnt of Hornsey Water Works, there was a line of fine, matutre trees on that side of the street as well.
Looking to the left of the officer in the foreground of the first image, is that the pumping house with its distinctive roof.? The block of flats in the distance might be the block that once stood on the other side of the railway bridge that carries the mainline out of King's Cross.
I was sceptical at first, but you may be right, Trumper. Here's a photo of Dylan Thomas House that could be the mid-century block in the first photo. I think the roof you refer to over the Fireman's shoulder in the same image would be more likely to be Eagle Cottage, Eagle House or Manor House (the c. 1800 houses on the north of the High Street). It looks like it's too far west to be Landford Cottage (see Fig. 20 here) in the Waterworks grounds. The roof and chimney further east however (just past the fire engine, half-hidden by a tree) matches with the surviving Landford House on Google maps.
The steep fall-off in land level in the second photo made me reluctant to conclude that it was taken looking east towards Turnpike Lane. But I think I can discern the railway bridge and on the right is what could be Mildura Court. The chimney beyond could belong to the old Bank Chambers building on the corner of Tottenham Lane.
The only thing I can't place is the gabled roof behind or on "the bridge" - a signal box perhaps?
You may have hit the mail on the head, Trumper. I don't think I'd have got it in a thousand years!
