Has anyone else had this happen? My renewal quote has gone up from £700 to nearly £1300 - a rise of 80 percent. All i can get out of the company is that 'methods of calculating risk have changed'...

Even £700 seems a lot - my MoreThan house insurance renewal was sub-£400
I has a (small) subsidence claim in the past, so it's always a bit more expensive.
Fair enough. Interestingly I did too but my premiums never went up - again MoreThan.
I'll give them a try - and others that have been recommended. Definitely can't pay £1300!
a note re insurance for all sorts - don't leave renewing till the last minute. Apparently the best time to do it is 3-4 weeks before the renewal date. Last minute costs £££. It must be that if we are so hopeless at managing dates we are so feckless we are more likely to crash the car or set the house on fire. Or we don't have spare cash to maintain it all.
