Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Police activity, several vans and a cordon, across Portland Gardens earlier this morning.  A small crowd of people gathered. Anyone have any information on what's going on?

Seems to be ending now, 9am.

That helicopter has been very annoying and hard to concentrate on anything today. Music and dancing has stopped for a bit, then speeches, going on with drumming back. I think this rally is meant to end at 8pm. Some quiet time would be good now.

20:04 - bloody helicopter is back again.

And the loud music, singing and chanting is still going on.

20:58 - bloody noisy helicopter seems to have departed, will it be back?

Much worse comes from the sky in other parts of the world than simply noise.

One police helicopter costs the same to run annually as a few hundred police cars.  It creates a phenomenal amount of CO2, and there is little evidence that they help prevent crime: all they do is upset residents with noise pollution.  Now that relatively cheap drones are widely available, there is no justification- even civil disorder- for police officers to have a jolly in their flying machines. Give the helicopters to the air ambulance service and the RNLI.

I’m all for helicopters that assist with chases, criminals on the move and obviously air ambulance but I’m not really sure about the level of crowd control required from the sky in this instance, especially with a strong police presence on the ground?

It seems everywhere people fighting for the liberation of their homeland are being smeared as terrorists while the states oppressing them carry out despicable acts of violence. This is being done at the behest of Turkiye who occupy and bomb Kurdish lands and steal their farms.

Can anyone recommend a good tradesperson who can repair our wall?

It's half collapsed now, probably after all the crush of people leaning and sitting on it yesterday.

Thursday 19:00 police helicopter is back again.  What do they achieve by flying round in circles, surely the police on the ground can control any protesters.

And now 19:12 it's gone, but will it be back?

Gordon T,

My reporting of the police helicopter deployment is just continuing what you started yesterday, or perhaps you forgot.  Your postings - "Police helicopter arrived at 1230 or so, doing lowest-possible-level circuits, perhaps attempt to identify protesters. and later "Helicopter left at 1410, back now [at dusk] at 1630…

Now where I live I can hear the noise quite clearly and yesterday it was present on three occasions for a total of five hours, it is very disturbing and if it was any other organisation making the noise it would be considered to be illegal.  You obviously don’t have any problem with the noise, fair enough but don’t try and stop me from commenting upon the issue.

Post 1. "Police helicopter arrived at 1230 or so, doing lowest-possible-level circuits, perhaps attempt to identify protesters".
Post 2. "Helicopter left at 1410, back now [at dusk] at 1630. Information on rare event, not a complaint".
Post 3. "Much worse comes from the sky in other parts of the world than simply noise".
