This family, together with their many friends, were well known to Warham Road residents both for their activities pickpocketing on buses, tubes and shops, and for their anti social behaviour. Their activities were sustained by a local landlord who converted a family house into a large HMO to accommodate them for a period of three years. Involvement by various agencies including Transport Police together with ongoing cooperation from several Council departments, local councilors and neighbours resulted in their eventual arrest.
There was also this earlier discussion about these delightful ex-neighbours...
Who was the local landlord out of interest (was it a local newsagent?)? Did they just completely ignore residents' warnings about the conduct of their tenants?
Thanks Alison, I missed the earlier posting. According to other newspaper articles the £100,00 has been invested in property and awaits them on their return. As they live within the EU I'm not sure why profit from their crimes can't be confiscated. The status of the house as an HMO remains an issue.
East London? I am sure they will be back with false passports within the year to continue their easy pickings. Surely if they are part of the EU, can't there properties be seized and taken away from them?
