Letterbox burglary
We're renting a property on Rutland Gardens, and this morning someone entered the property around 3am while we were asleep (my wife heard a noise then), took all the house and car keys and some handbags, and then stole our car which was parked just down the road.
The police believe that the mode of entry was via the letter box, since it's possible to insert a device which can pull the interior door handle down and open the door if you haven't locked the door on the inside by key. I didn't realise this was possible before.
Here's an article I found about securing letter boxes. I wanted to mention this here to raise attention, in case the criminals try this trick again elsewhere.

I would get a good Chub lock. Even if they can hook the latch they won't be able to open the door.

We had some one fishing through our letterbox many years ago. They hooked the wife's handbag hanging on the hall staircase, but there wasn't much inside fortunately. We now double lock the front door, keep any keys or valuables away and have a letterbox with internal flap!

You should always lock your front door with a key and place the key well away from the door. Insert a ring device at the front door and they won't come near the place as they know they are being recorded all the time. Lastly a London bar is a good idea to stop the door being kicked in when you're not there.
