It's nearly bluebell season. Does anybody know where they be seen in Harringey.

Queenswood is always a good one. basically, anywhere that there's trees. i always get excited when i see the floor covered in blue.

Up at Hampstead, just up from the Spaniard Pub, lovely wood with a mass of bluebells.

Last year I took the train to Wanstead Park from Harringay Green Lanes, and walked up to Wanstead Flats where there is a spectacular bluebell wood in the park.

As a huge fan of bluebells and all seasonal flowers I've long found the London displays not that great, eg was alerted to the ones in Highgate woods but they are fenced off and along busy paths. Every year I take my U3A group and friends to the amazing display in Osterley gardens, free to National Trust members, about 20 mins walk from Osterley station.

This was taken in Highgate Woods yesterday. From the Cranley gardens entrance take the right path, they're on the left but as mentioned they are now behind some of the nature fences.

Great pic! I prefer no fences, personally, though I know too many trample them. Also as few people and dogs as possible. I often get the Osterley path to myself/my group.

Thank you! Sunlight was working in my favour I think. I'm heading to South downs tomorrow to hope to catch some there, a little further than the OP intended but will be worth the journey.
I also recently got the "Walks for Each Season" book by Julia Smith. All are less than 60 mins by train from London. She has a bluebell walk in Tring recommended which I'm hoping to try out.

Sounds a good book and yes, Herts is an under-recognised area, I think, for nature etc eg two RSPB reserves within a short distance of each other and another one near Tring. Would be interested to know how you find the bluebells on that walk!

If we get there before bluebell season ends I'll let you know. Herts does sometimes seem to be missed in favour of the more well known spots. I think she's a local writer (might be wrong but I'm sure I heard that). The book has really clear instructions, maps and handy info like places to picnic/eat and the all important toilet stops. Really enjoying walks from it so far.
I'll also look up Osterley as another option for the future. Thanks for that tip!

I think Ashridge and a place called Dockery Wood are also noted for bluebells, in Herts. BTW, although the NT has a policy (poor, in my view) that people have to pay for both house and garden when visiting properties, you can just pay the garden fee on Mondays and Tuesdays when the house is closed. So that's about £7 instead of 13.
