Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I recently visited Enfield and saw the Culture Palace. Its an initiative using disused shops. Its used for community events as well as an independent bookshop and cafe. I attended a baby sing a long class there. They host jazz and other concerts in the evening.

And it got me thinking, wouldn't it be lovely to have something similar nearby. I'd love somewhere with more space for baby classes.

But also, wouldn't it be lovely if Green Lanes had -

  • A vets
  • Baby soft play
  • Knitting / craft shop
  • What else do we need?

Bikeshop

Bookshop (second hand or new)

Clothes shops (mens, wowens, childrens) for people who aren't gansters or those who want to spend £50 on a baby's bib)

A local government service hub/outlet and community space for learning/networking/mentoring or for isolated older people to meet and play cards, dance, play music see toddlers play.

A decent and authentic Chinese

Someone with a broom

A few murals (non political)

Dedicated bike lanes

Trees, trees and more trees

Community gardens

Clean, safe and unobstructed footpaths so people with mobility issues and especially wheelchairs can get around easily.

A place that accepts and sells decent secondhand furniture and household goods that students, young people, transient residents and anyone else can use to stock up their flats and houses. It could be self funding and employ people who might have difficulties finding other work such as people with intellectual disabilities.

A community sports club with a range of teams and activities for kids and teenagers (eg. Martial arts, wrestling, handball, indoor football, climbing walls, languages, chess, music)

Much larger and more rubbish bins designed to take the rubbish from flats so it isnt left on the footpath.

A policeman (or woman)

May I add a public loo to your list Osbawn?

You mean one actually designed for that function? Blimey, that's a thought. Yes, add some of those. And some for the ladies too.

Might stop the rivers of piss you see on street corners on Saturday and Sunday mornings

When the Council close the toilets at 5pm ( nominally, when the Veolia staff shut up shop any time after 4.15 ) ?

Perhaps a couple of these.  One on the big area outside the Salisbury and one on the built out pavement at the bottom of Burgoyne?
