Just wondering if there was a problem at the sorting office again: I'm on Burgoyne and I've got at least four items that should have arrived last week/the week before last and are still awol. Anybody experiencing the same or - as I've long suspected - does the Royal Mail really have something personal against me?

Given the number of people all reporting largely the same problem here, is it worth somebody tweeting the url of this thread to Royal Mail? (I would volunteer, but I'm not on Twitter. However, if nobody else wishes to, I'm happy to briefly enter that particular cesspit.)
Some of my missing post arrived last Thursday, but there are still at least three parcels somewhere that were sent more than a week ago. As with Lex, most of these are from small sellers on eBay - seems like a pattern.
I've not had much post for a few weeks. Was expecting three important letters all posted first class over two weeks ago. I called Royal Mail complaints, and explained there seemed to be a problem with parts of Haringey getting their post. They said it was due to staff shortages, and assured me I would get my post by 4pm Friday. Think ringing them is better than emailing.
Two letters arrived yesterday 26th Oct. Both were first class with a franking date of 21st Oct. 5 days delivery.
I am sure we can all live with late arrivals, but it is the stuff that never arrives that cannot be explained by staffing and Covid. Stuff does not just evaporate!
I am not on Twitter either, but someone please do share this thread if you are!
Question is how do we escalate this beyond talking to some poor person catching our wrath over the telephone. Dealing with issues individually is fine, but it does not deal with the wider systemic issues. Any thoughts?
I have raised it on Twitter but got the standard. “If it’s 1st class it should be 1 day, 2 days for 2nd and anything after 10 days is counted as lost “ response
I have just used this form to try and claim back the cost of the delayed postage, 6 first class stamps by all accounts. Lets see what comes back.
I've Tweeted with a ling to this thread: https://twitter.com/KateBowgett/status/1453355676797968388?s=20
Thanks, Kate/Betty. Let's see if that helps.
I noticed this morning that Burgoyne's regular postman has returned after a lengthy absence, so I spoke to him (as he delivered letters to the houses either side of mine). He said there's a huge backlog at the sorting office. I wonder whether in his absence rather than anybody actually being responsible for his whole route it was divided up among other people, and everything fell through the cracks... Anyway, he said he was likely to be very busy over the next few days attempting to clear it.
Once it does, and hopefully it will, make a claim anyway using the link I posted above.
Here's an update regarding my missing parcel from the US. I was told after an investigation that the sender of my missing parcel had incorrectly addressed it and therefore it was delivered to the wrong address. I was told last Monday to give them 3 days to try to retrieve my parcel from the address that it was incorrectly delivered to and if I didn't receive within those 3 days to consider it as lost. Firstly I don't believe it was incorrectly addressed as the address is correct in the tracking that I have from NYC. Secondly, as it's Friday I have completely given up on the prospect of receiving my item from the Royal Mail. Luckily enough the vendor in the states is an ex pat who fully understands the issues of the Royal Mail and emailed me a full credit code for the missing item so I have reordered it again. In saying that it will once again be handled by my local sorting office (WG) once it gets to them from across the pond, but I'm working on the principle that they couldn't mess up twice with the same order, could they? This is the point. I have absolutely no confidence that they will deliver it to my address in the coming days. As for making a claim from the RM the fact of the matter I cant as it was posted from abroad. I've just copied the URL of this thread and posted it on the Royal Mail and the BBC Watchdog Twitter feeds. I reckon as many of us who can to do this as the amount of issues raised here should have some impact.
Very decent of the sender to give you a credit. Good luck!
Thanks ;) I'll let you all know if I get it or if it goes missing again.
I saw my postman the other day, he said "parcels today, letters tomorrow". I think they are having huge staffing issues so this is one way they are coping. It seems to work well here in N15. But it's a big difference from two deliveries a day (one parcels, one letters) to what is basically delivery every second day.
