Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Write your own election pledges (or play fantasy campaign literature)

While we eagerly await the election pledges of the local parties, lets close our eyes for a moment and imagine what that piece of election literature would look like that finally closes the debate for you about where you will plant your X on election day.

It's a plain piece of paper, it has no photos of grim faced candidates standing near hospitals/schools/potholes or pictures of  smiling candidates in front of things what they might (or might not) have achieved in the past.

It contains no meaningless graphics or mentions of horse races. It wastes no breath on rubbishing other parties or writing dire warnings about what will happen if you vote for them.

It says

As your (insert name of party) candidate, I pledge...

___________________________________________

(name of candidate- no photos)

and this is where you come in, oh reader of this post, for what one promise would you like to see there that would make you decide to vote for that person?

I'll start: I would vote for a candidate that pledged to

radically change the Area Assembly and make it a place where real decisions are made and where all public bodies can be held accountable by the people.

Your turn

Write your killer pledge below... Keep it short, and sweet.

Warning: all speeches/rants/jokes/satire/latin quotes/trolls will be removed to the Meldrews without prior notice.

As your Ciceronian candidatus, I pledge to wear only the whitest of white togas and to be candid in all my pledges, especially those relating to Whiteman pavements and Whiteman Omnibus.
Okay, OAE, I did say that this is your personal fantasy campaign leaflet and no doubt any candidate that managed to lever a knowledge of Roman history, a pledge to be honest and transparent and promise to take up the case of the pavements of Wightman and get you the W1 would earn your X
So, so far, we have my wish to see Area Assembly become a place for the real decision making processes, and OAEs as outlined above.

There must be more...keep it as short as a tweet and as simple as you like.
I will vote for a candidate who will pay serious attention to reducing the traffic blighting our streets.
I pledge that I will not try to persuade people to vote for me by claiming credit for a freeze on Council Tax in a year of zero inflation
