Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

All this surveillance of our traffic, surely a congestion fee for driving through our Home Zone?

Time for our elected council members to be more vested locally and less omnipresent politically.  There is too much in Harringay that needs attention. If it’s achieved elsewhere let’s learn how they got it and why.

Trees, planters, community hubs, improved walking routes and connections, street furniture, street bike pumps, charging points at our supermarkets, electric car pools, there’s a great list we can build and action.

If we take our urban filters off it’s apparent. Dangerous crossings on Frobisher Road with Green Lanes. No speed cameras to keep to twenty, no pedestrian priority, Green Lanes and Wightman is the boroughs dumping ground for servicing traffic, we will have to tax it, and ring fence revenue to a local infrastructure Levi to improvements to our area. Feel free to add your pocket park or area that needs redressing or repair.

I take it you do not travel around School times

When Buses hold up long ques as children use buses

I live on a major road, which is used by people to by pass Wood Green High road

When it was closed the other day for Turnpike lane shooting. All traffic was diverted down my road - Gladstone Avenue

Quoting a 2011 Census is like living in a dream world. Population of the Borough has grown by many thousands in that time. Plus Home Deliveries vehicle numbers grow daily. Especially when they have to double park to deliver. Not forgetting the ever growing number of food delivery scooters

I take it you have never tried to travel through Station Road / Lordship lane . With ques backing up for miles. Thanks to Cycle Lanes, reducing the road into single lanes. With No bus layby's And Parents Double parking and along footway. Causing even more traffic fumes going into local schools

Dredd to think what will happen when they have events at Alexandra Palace again

My Information is based on living and working for the Borough, now retired. But still travel through Borough

Don't worry about the scooters Bob, they use the cycle lanes and seem to ride in a parallel universe.

To clarify, we should take your colloquial observations and one incident which happened this week over census data and traffic surveys? No Bob. I’m not going to do that. With the best will in the world, it’s not very credible. Please research LTNs, I think that knowledge may empower you. They give agency to local communities, make the environment cleaner and over time traffic is reduced as the rat runners find other routes or just stop using their cars. But you haven’t addressed any of our points, so... I’d be surprised if any of this sways you.

Fact of Life, that more vehicle Journeys are being used as users stay in their vehicles instead of using public transport. That does not cover all routes are cater for the growing population.  Not forgetting that families often have more than one person and needs

Years ago I used to get 67 from High Road Wood Green. Sometimes it was full before it got to High Road and another 20minutes plus for another

Same a School Times. Joys of children having to travel distances to schools

How is Putting in more Road restrictions going to help anyone ?

Especially when congested Traffic Passes Schools and other occupied area

As in other Borough's where restrictions are threatening life as emergency Services can not get to Emergencies

Because, Bob, and it's not difficult. LTNs mean fewer cars, which means less pollution, which means a better quality of life for the borough's residents. If you're against that, I don't really know what else to say. The emergency services argument which is often rolled out has been completely debunked (evidence here: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/bike-blog/2021/apr/23/oppon...) I'm still waiting for you to back up any of your assertions with anything other than anecdotal evidence. Schools streets, something you appear to be against, improve the safety of children arriving and leaving school and improves the air quality around schools. Again, it seems strange that you're against this. And we're still waiting for you to back up any of your points with evidence other than things you've noted and "facts of life". Otherwise, I say again, your argument really carries no weight.

If you try to imagine life as it was around fifty or sixty years ago, that's what Bob is wishing to reinstate, and is the source of all his many, many comments on here.
